Well, hi there!
It’s so nice to meet you.
I’m a content designer and craft community leader focused on user-centered content and design strategy for complex products. I have a knack for simplifying complex concepts and fostering a culture of collaboration, and a passion for connecting community across disciplines and domains.
Before life in tech, I served as a curriculum designer and educator at secondary and higher education institutions across Montana where I currently live with my husband, two kids, a dog, and six chickens.
What can I do for you?
My recent experience spans product content design, content systems, and craft community leadership.

Product content portfolio
-
Enabling tax and books together
I drove end-to-end content for business tax filing in QuickBooks, bringing two complex products together for the first time ever.
-
Giving accountants more control
I supported work to allow accountant users to get specific about who can access what parts of their account and how they do it.
-
Staying compliant across the globe
I helped design the tool accountants use to file their annual tax accounts in the UK and drove end-to-end content design and delivery across geos and roles.
Some impactful work I’ve done is protected by employment agreement, so I can’t share examples here.
I can always talk process and strategy, decision-making, collaboration, and outcomes.
Leadership and community
-
As the content design discipline has evolved here at Intuit, I’ve taken a driving role in helping build the future of the craft. I lead working groups, coordinate resources, curate training opportunities, and evangelize the value of content design across functions and teams.

I’m the owner and driver of contentdesign.intuit.com, our acclaimed content system that supports brands from QuickBooks to TurboTax to CreditKarma and Mailchimp. Thousands of partners across design, development, marketing, leadership, and beyond reference the site in their daily work.
-
I led planning of our recent content conference, Lorem Ipsum, and hosted the event. I partner to coordinate community events that keep the spirit and energy of the event going year round.
-
As what we call an Innovation Catalyst at Intuit, I dip into teams at all levels to provide coaching and support in design thinking methodologies and innovative decision-making.
FAQs
Product content design? What’s that?
One of my first (fantastic) leaders explained it like this:
Content designers are product designers who view the interaction through the lens of the conversation we're having with our customers.
I really like that, because what is an experience if not a relationship, and what is a relationship if not a series of conversations?
This degree of empowerment and mutual respect is key to my identity as a product content designer.
How do I like to work with product teams?
Wherever our product designers and interaction designers are, I’m there too,
From kickoff to daily standup to research and retros and beyond, I’m gathering context or to serving as a critical thought partner.
Showing up as an integrated partner is how I make sure content adds value to the team and, ultimately, to customers.
What are my goals?
To lead within content and across disciplines, and to foster collaboration and dare I say joy to empower teams’ best work ever.
I’m in it for my triad, my org, my company, and gosh darn it, the world
What’s my take on the job title question?
Content designer, UX writer, content strategist. The Venn diagram is a circle, a sphere, a bowl of spaghetti.
I like to include the word “designer” in my title because the most important work I do involves thinking broadly and creatively to approach complicated problems from multiple angles.
What else can I do?
In a past life, I was an educator, and I’m still passionate about the convergence of cognitive science, coaching, and design thinking that is the education world.
Back then I taught English, composition and rhetoric, creative writing, journalism, public speaking, and literature in secondary and higher ed institutions across. Montana. I crafted professional development for experienced teachers, taught teacher prep courses for undergrads pursuing a career in English teaching, and led the academic journal for English educators in Montana.
I’ve also worked in journalism, textbook writing and editing, as a cheesemonger, and a jazz bassist. I’ve taken coursework toward a post-bac degree in computer science, which I plan to complete when the stars of life align.
